Here is one of those jokes that you probably heard as a kid:
Q) How do you eat an elephant?
A) One bite at a time.
The joke is full of sound advice for those of you, like me, who are in a constant state of creating or a constant state of managing others or in a constant state of trying new things.
If you are anything like me, you have ideas, so many ideas.
You want to create them all!
You’re ready to blow up inside because you have so much you want to bring to the table!
However, you also know the amount of energy and creative willpower to create something new, well, is tremendous, which is exactly why not everyone is making their dream projects come true. Once people realize how much work it actually takes to do something right, they turn around, or find excuses, or let someone else do it before them…
So, yes, you need a plan. You need to make a plan on how to eat your elephant that includes how many days it will take to eat your elephant, where you will store the elephant while between meals, which part of the elephant will you eat first, what will you do with the bones? Eww…
But at the end of the day, the only way to really eat an elephant is one bite at a time, just like your dream projects.
One bite at a time.
