Do you know how to lead others through your truth?
Find your truth,
And pursue love.
Unleash your voice,
And lead with compassion for others.
You CAN lead people. You can lead people, even if you are not in a position of authority. The best way to lead people is to represent the truth. Be the truth. The only truth you know, and will ever be capable of knowing, is the truth of yourself. But, to know your truth you first need to be open and vulnerable and frankly, that’s the hardest part for many people.
Get obsessed with yourself. Constantly check in with yourself. Know how you feel about everything from your tea in the morning to the way your pillows are fluffed at night. Know what feels right and what feels wrong to you. That’s part of your truth. Seek to understand not only your truth, but take the time to understand other people’s truths as well.
Stay open, empathize, and seek answers where most people do not want to look – the inside.
We will not agree with everyone in the world. We will not agree with everyone we encounter. We will not agree with all the decisions that are being made. But we can take the time to ask ourselves: what pain is this person in, what is this person trying to do, what is motivating this person to act this way? As individuals, we are allowed to come to our unique evaluations and choose how to react to what we see — hopefully in a mature and positive manner.
We lose our truth and ourselves when we choose to not try to understand ourselves and others. Yes, it is a choice. We lose our truth when we give up compassion.
Remember, this conversation is about is leading others. I’m not talking about managing people here. I’m talking about what it takes to become a leader of people. You shine when you are in a truthful state and others will surely follow. You know when someone charismatic silently walks into the room and all eyes go on him/her? That’s kind of what I’m talking about.
You can be a leader and not be a manager. You can be a leader without being a person of authority. To be a leader, all you need to be is human.
Even if you make widgets for a living in the back room of a startup all by yourself, you can still lead through truth. You can lead when you are unleashed.
I wasn’t the first to say it, but “the truth will set you free.”
I’ll add by continuing the thought: Freedom will set you to lead, truthfully.
How truthful are you willing to be?
