Blind Spots

• When you are driving a car, your blind spots are the areas in which you are unaware of something in your surroundings.
• When you are leading a team, your blind spots are the areas in which you are unaware of activity surrounding your project.
• When you are maturing through life, your blind spots are the areas you are unaware of your own reactions and the effect they have on yourself and others.

Invest in eliminating your blind spots and the risk of devastation is lessened.
Eliminating blind spots is how you mature as a person and a professional.

If you are aware of your own destructive behavior, then when your behavior hurts you, you will not be surprised…

If you are aware of the areas of your business that you are ignorant to, then when that ignorance hurts you, you will not be surprised…

It hurts most, however, when you are blind to your weakness and you get hit hard. You can get hit emotionally in a relationship or financially in a transaction. It can cost you time or it can cost you credibility.

So let’s avoid getting hit, eh?

This will require taking some responsibility for the outcomes in your life or your business. Take the time to ask yourself, “What could I have done?” if you have met one of your blind spots or “What can I do to prevent getting hit unexpectedly?” if you are lucky enough not to have met one yet.

In the car, it means taking additional time to look in the mirrors.
In business, it means taking additional time to manage.
In life, it means taking the time to work on getting to know you.

POST BLOG WORKSHOP: Reflecting On Your Blind Spots

What might be a blind spot in your life?

To find a blind spot, look at the things you don’t like that reoccur in your life.

i.e. Remaining single? Fighting all the time with your partner? You can’t land a job you like? Your team keeps revolving? You keep firing people because they are immature?

Which of your behaviors might be contributing to these things reoccurring that you may not be taking accountability for yet
