Listen to these inspirational speakers from “The Legacy Show #006 / ‘Serving Others'”
The amazingly talented Sean Aaron Carmon from the Alvin Ailey Dance Co., the storytelling guru, 20x Moth Storytelling Champion Adam Wade, and the motivational Dov Baron, Inc Magazine’s Top 100 Leadership Speakers – took the stage at LPR to tell us what ‘Serving Others’ means to them and how it got them to where they are today.
The Legacy Show, for those of you who aren’t familiar, is a monthly live show in New York City that is based on the content of this blog. It is a quirky take on storytelling events that entertain AND get the listeners thinking about their lives in new ways. The performers and presenters are all people who gave a middle finger to the status quo. If you missed it (or if you want to re-watch any of it again) here are the links to the videos below or the full playlist link here:
Sean Aaron Carmon – Dancer at Alvin Ailey Dance Co.
Sean Aaron Carmon is an amazingly talented dancer for the Alvin Ailey Dance Company who has a talent for telling inspirational stories as well. He shared an intimate and funny story on stage that tells us how ‘serving others’ has really helped him on his journey. He says ‘to serve others compassionately we must first take care of ourselves.’
(Special Guest) Jordan Matter – Photographer “Dancers After Dark”
Jordan Matter is the amazing professional photographer behind ‘Dancers Among Us’ and ‘Dancers After Dark’ and comes by The Legacy Show to share his best stories – AND we LOVE having him there! “Get more NO’s faster“ he said during his ‘interview’ with Michael Ian Cedar – The more failures you encounter, the sooner you get to your success.
Dov Baron – Inc Magazine’s Top 100 Leadership Speakers / Best-Selling Author
Dov Baron is one of Inc. Magazine’s Top 100 Leadership speakers and he shares very insightful information about how to be more of a leader and how to get what you want out of life. “The trap that we live in is that we think we will have better value by adding to our lives… The value is in removing. It’s the polishing and refining that gets us to the diamond“ he said during his ‘interview’ with Michael Ian Cedar.
It’s my utter joy to inspire others to get creative and break down barriers to get to where they can do meaningful work. I hope I get to see you at the next The Legacy Show, Jan. 10, 2017. Do you know of any speakers who would be good for one of our future events? Do you have a story to tell? Please send an e-mail to me at KickAss@TheLegacyOfYou.com!
All proceeds from the show went to She’s The First! She’s The First provides scholarships to girls in low-income countries, fostering first-generation graduates and cultivating the next generation of global leaders.
Remember: Cute quotes and stories don’t make us successful; action does. Supplement your mind and soul with these stories, but the greatest achievements occur with what you do with the motivation.
