Listen to these inspirational speakers from “The Legacy Show #007 / ‘Un-f**k Thy Life’”
The great Dorie Clark, author of ‘Reinventing You’; the inspirational Faye Lane, an award winning writer & performer; the hilarious Mary Bridget Davies, actress who played Janis Joplin on Broadway; and the always excellent Jordan Matter, pro photographer and author of ‘Dancers Among Us’ – took the stage at LPR to tell us what ‘Un-f**K Thy Life’ means to them and how they got out of sticky situations to getting back on top, higher than before.
The Legacy Show, for those of you who aren’t familiar, is a bi- monthly live show in New York City that is based on the content of this blog. It is a quirky take on storytelling events that entertain AND get the listeners thinking about their lives in new ways. The performers and presenters are all people who gave a middle finger to the status quo. If you missed it (or if you want to re-watch any of it again) here are the links to the videos below or the full playlist link here:
Dorie Clark – Author of ‘Reinventing You’
Faye Lane – Award-Winning Writer and Performer
Faye Lane had a very inspiring story at the Legacy Show on Jan 10th 2017. She spoke about resilience and hard work. From when she lived in Anthony Hopkins’ house to when she wrote and starred in her own show. Take a listen!
Jordan Matter – Pro Photographer ‘Dancers Among Us’
Jordan graces our stage regularly and he never disappoints! He reiterates his motto, ‘leap and the net will appear’ and encourages to take risks, or in his own words ‘GET F**KED!’ Along with a new clip from his ‘Dancers After Dark’ series. Take a listen!
Marie Bridget Davies – Janis Joplin in Broadway’s ‘One Night with Janis Joplin’
Mary Bridget Davies plays Janis Joplin on Broadway’s ‘One Night with Janis Joplin.’ She shares a personal story of her growing up in Cleveland and how she got to where she is now. Often a rocky road but she made it! Take a listen!
It’s my utter joy to inspire others to get creative and break down barriers to get to where they can do meaningful work. I hope I get to see you at the next The Legacy Show in March 2017. Do you know of any speakers who would be good for one of our future events? Do you have a story to tell? Please send an e-mail to me at KickAss@TheLegacyOfYou.com!
All proceeds from the show went to She’s The First! She’s The First provides scholarships to girls in low-income countries, fostering first-generation graduates and cultivating the next generation of global leaders.
