You say you want to do work that is meaningful to you.
But, you also give the excuses:
The job market sucks
The talent pool is lazy
The industry isn’t hiring
The economy is terrible
The competitor is out bidding me
The investors aren’t interested
The family doesn’t believe in me
The outside circumstances are easy to blame. It feels safe to blame the outside world. It feels nice and cozy and warm to say “it’s not my fault, there is nothing I can do.” If you don’t have control then, you can’t be held accountable. Right?
Wrong. At the end of the day, it’s just you alone with your thoughts processing the outside world. Sure, the worlds circumstances might not be in your control, but, the way you react to them will help you navigate your way to an ideal outcome.
At the end of the day, you are your own worst excuse for not getting the work done. But, there is still hope.
Sorry, your tombstone won’t say, “She could have been an amazing leader if only the circumstances were different”.
At some point the blaming must stop. Take control, be your own BEST excuse.
If you want to get to the sexy work and become the dream version of you, you should get to it. If you want to get to the fulfilling work then at some point you will need to come to the conclusion that you have no excuse other than yourself. So what if it’s raining outside, you still need to shoot that first vlog!
Work around the obstacle. You will be forced to be more creative. You’ll find that when you overcome more challenges you’ll be hurdling the next one with more ease (no, the challenges never stop and yes, sometimes you will get pummeled) …. soon you’ll be screaming “Bring it on” because you will be so mentally-fit and energized it will feel AMAZING.
You will take the path least taken because that is YOUR legacy.
I am so looking forward to this next part of your journey. Stop holding back.
